A new report from the Economic Policy Institute makes the case that immigrants at all wage levels actually lift wages for US workers:A key result from this work is that the estimated effect of immigration from 1994 to 2007 was to raise the wages of U.S.-born workers, relative to foreign-born workers, by 0.4% (or $3.68 per week), and to lower the wages of foreign-born workers, relative to U.S.-born workers, by 4.6% (or $33.11 per week). In other words, any negative effects of new immigration over this period were felt largely by the workers who are the most substitutable for new...

This is not the appropriate forum to ask your question as most of us here are still waiting to get green card even after waiting upwards of 7 years. Some still have 5 or more years ahead of them barring immigration reforms.

I would suggest you head to the forum at immigrationportal.com and you may get some help there. Good luck.

I have applied for EAD renewal on September 1 2010. I have received receipt notice and checks are cashed . There was soft LUD on my case two weeks back without any change in status . To day I got email with case status Initial Review with following messsage

We have placed this case I765 APPLICATION FOR EMPLOYMENT AUTHORIZATION on hold because there is a pending litigation that may affect the outcome. We will resume processing as soon as the litigation is resolved. We will notify you by mail when we make a decision about your case, or if the office needs additional information.

This is my 5th my EAD Renewal and earlier I do not have any issues with Renewals . My current EAD Expires in December 1 Week . Please advise what I need to in this case , as I do not have any clue about pending litigation. Can I check with Local office about what was the pending litigation or do I need to approach through lawyer

My I-485 has been denied based on the fact that I entered the country illegally in 1985.

My last USA entry was in 1998. It was a legal exit and entry. I was given a permit to make a trip to South America. Can the fact that my last entry was legal be enough to reopen the petition? Can I used my last entry as basis for my I-485 adjustment?

    Hi,

I filed my EAD and AP renewal on Sept 17 (20 days) ago but still I haven't heard received neither receipt notice nor my check being cashed. Is there anything we can do to find out about the receipt notice? Fedex tracking shows the mail being already delivered. I am currently working on EAD and recently used AC21 to switch the company so EAD is very important to me.

Please provide your feedback and if anyone is having same delays in getting receipt notice for EAD / AP.

    Thanks,
    BK

    Hi,
Am on H4 and applied for H1B in May 2006. Because of emergency, we need to travel out of US; got the approval on Sept 7th and returned to US on Sept 10th. I lost hopes of Change of Status petition approval(as one of my friend's COS petetion is rejected eventhough she didnot leave US during H1 process), but surprisingly when I received my papers today, it is approved with old I-94 number. Thank God.
Now, Can I go ahead and apply for SSN. Can they ask me to go for stamping as the I-94 on the approval notice is different from the current I-94 in the passport?
    Thnx.

The New York Times recently ran a profile piece on radio show host Filemon Lopez who broadcasts in native languages from a station in Fresno, California to poor Mixtec Indians from Mexico working in agriculture in central California. Lopez, a beneficiary of the 1986 legalization program, has been in the US for 30 years. He brings a little piece of home to immigrants performing backbreaking work to put food on our tables.

The CBO report DREAM Act advocates have been touting reflects a net plus of $2.3 billion against the federal deficit. But that's the SENATE version that was analyzed. If the antis are right and 2,000,000 people will benefit from DREAM, the House version's new $2525 in filing fees will mean an additional $5 billion will be raised. Why, it would be fiscally irresponsible NOT to vote for DREAM!

    Hi All,

Today I received an email from CRIS saying that they have sent me an RFE on my AP application. My wife's AP was approved last week, so it really confuses me about what this could be about? Can anyone shed more light on "probable" causes of I-131 RFE?

I have another question - my passport is expiring in November 2007. Could that be the cause of the AP RFE? I could get that renewed from Indian embassy in 10 days, so its not a problem. But, has anyone heard about cases where expiring passport causes RFEs?

    Thanks for your help.
