That is right. I said before and I am saying again. I am against sending flowers or calculators because.
1. They cost money (Some people may not do that just because of that).
2. USCIS will like those toys for their kids (Please come out of the movie mood, movies impress a lot but they are a lot different from real life). Believe me they will treat these things as wonderful gifts and we will end up spending time and money for these.
3. It will not make any difference to USCIS.
4. USCIS can always redirect all those flowers to orphanage or other places, what they cannot do is redirect our posters trying to put them to shame.
I have been appealing a lot about this. Why do not we have a letter compain along with posters which should put them to shame. These should not only be sent to USCIS, but also to the press, congressmen, president of US and yes the director of USCIS. I have created several posters here.

I totally agree with "bsbawa10" , Not many people will invilve if its a matter of spending 30-50$ and for sure stuff like Calculators and clock will go to the Kids of USCIS officers and their friends as Thanksgiving "Gifts". I think we should send mass letters to all the involved agencies with posters. Not only all the people will be involved, it will be difficult for USCIS to redirect the stuff to some orphanage/veterans Hospitals etc. Just my 2 cents.

I can organize weekly Conf. call, but I would need some initial input from IV Core Team about its activities. I also need to understand what were SoCal chapter targets and if any progress has been made. Maybe 485Mb4001 or Amit can guide on this?

If anyone else wants to come forward pls. do so and take charge. Communicate with the northern CA foks and organize a combined call or seperate call. We need someone to take a leadership role in this chapter at this time. Contact each and every member in this thread and bring them together to work on IV agenda items as outliined on the link on IV homepage for chapters.

I live in Minneapolis. I too am on H4.Same thing happened to both my husband and myself here last October.We had moved recently from Indiana and the DMV said they won't issue new licenses for both myself and my husband (it doesn't matter if u r on H1 or H4)until we give the extended I94. We had our Indiana licences also canceled .We didn't know what to do and then we enquired some of our friends and came to know that if we show our original USCIS Receipts for Extension filed they give ur license for 6 months from the USCIS Receipt Date. So we did that and got our extension until April. U have to show the Original Receipt ,No Xerox .And now we got our extension papers and reapplied for a new license and got it. May be u too can enquire about this,because I think all DMVs tend to follow similar rules.

This is beyong my wildest imagination on how bad things can go since we are all hard-working and law-abiding legal immigrants. Is it a punishment for being a good member of society?
I'm praying that it will not be given any consideration by those who have powers.

I have been confused by some of the things Professor Wadhwa says -- being opposed to H1 visas and saying there are no shortages of engineers. I saw this video on Youtube which explained everything to me. He is acting like a true American -- like we should once we become citizens. He is advising America on how they can stay competetive -- like all of us want for this great country. But he is also saying that the real solution is for America to welcome immigrants as permanent residents rather than on temporary visas.
Now I understand his message -- if you want to bring in the best from all over the world, bring them here on green cards -- not H1 visas. I also read one of his interviews where he said he was concerned about how H1 workers were taken advantage of and how they lived in immigration limbo. He really does care about doing what is right for all of us.
I totally totally agree with Professor Sahib! I wish the government listens to him. What he is saying is good for everyone. As Indians we want America to succeed and prosper and we want to be a big part of the reason they prosper.

I live in Georgia and I agree with you all. All these DMVs were sleeping and woke up after 9/11 and imposing these strict rules that makes everyone's life miserable. Unless you live in a city life will be hell without DL and we are sweating it over every time a renewal comes up. How am I suppose to explain DMV guy about I-94, H1 extension etc. Even some immigration officers in airport give wrong I-94 expiry date without understanding the difference between visa stamp and extension.

We (5 People) work for IBM company, SFO, today we went personally to the congress men and we submit the letter which is provided in this forum and after that we called state senator office and we explained about our problem. We faxed and email the letter to the senator office, staff had taken my contact details and they told me that they will inform the solution in 2days.

as per you, your I-140 was never denied.
My I-140 was never denied. In fact the date 09/04/2007 that NSC mentions about the denial is the date that I got approval notice. I have the approval copy from USCIS. I am not sure what the adjudicating officer is looking on his terminal.

It is time now to do a massive mother of all media campaigns and inform every reporter, TV station, Radio station, Magazine and newspaper in this country about the rally.
We start this campaign now and we will continue it until Monday. Media publicity is very important for the success of the rally. IV is already doing an email campaign to hundreds of immigration reporters today. (Ps.This list was compiled by few IV volunteers from various forums and threads. It will not be made public. So if you have any such list do not post on IV.)
Here is what we want everyone to do:
1) Someone pls draft a cover letter/Letters and post on this thread. We need several such letters so that all emails look different.

I have been a donor since 2006 and donated about $1000+ through 3 or 5 one time payments and monthly subscription of $20.
But I discontinued my monthly subscription seeing absence of IV core for long time in 2008. But more than that I was completely pissed off with free riders with one time questions and then disappearing, nanny questions, people sharing jokes on this forum, people commenting on the internal matters of their own country and so on. I felt the forum was being used for all other matters except the one issue it was formed to address: "RETROGRESSION in EB IMMIGRATION".
I am fully supportive of paid membership and welcome this step. I thank IV admin for the same.
Now my questions are
What is the vision / mission/ purpose behind the "donor forum"?
whether members will still be able to post questions for free and get answers? And of course vanish after that.
Would the anti immigrants still be able to use our forum and make posts to tease us?
And most importantly do I have start monthly subscription again to gain access to this forum? If yes, Can I just restart my $20 monthly subscription?

An unconfirmed sources of information has just released a report that the Sen. Bill Frist, Majority Leader is pushing a two-week full Senate floor debate beginning from March 20, 2006 rather than March 27, 2006. This report is indirectly supported by another news that the Senate Judiciary Committee is pressed to extend their additional mark-up on Friday, March 17 to finish up the Committee action before the end of the week.

Senate Judiciary Committee is scheduled to pickup the Sen. Specter's Mark of the Comprehensive Immigration Reform bills today. Initially it was scheduled for two days, March 15 and March 16, but the AILA has just obtained the information that the Committee has tentatively extended the mark-up on March 17, Friday as well in order to finish up this business within this week. As we reported earlier, the Committee has been working on a tight schedule because of the pressure from Senator Frist, the Majority Leader of the Senate to start debate on the Comprehensive Immigration Reform in the Senate beginning from March 27, 2006.

I had another LUD on 05/18/2009 my I-485 case. Not sure what they are looking for in my file.
Those continuous LUDs are pre adjudication processes - means your name check status, other statuses. FP etc... are all processed.
